Intro: I had a chance to review Lattefone latest GSM phone Latte Slim 11B. The Slim 11B is a stylish thin candybar type handset. Here we take a look at the Latte Slim 11B phone.

Design: The first thing I noticed when opening the box was just how small the phone is. It is one of the smallest phone that I have seen. Even smaller and thinner than the Motorola L7. Which is saying a lot! The Slim 11B phone has a similar Metal etch keypad as the Motorolla SLVR/Razr. The Slim 11B comes in Silver that oozes style and attractiveness.

Function: The Latte Slim 11B features a 1.9″ 260K Color TFT LCD Screen, 1.3 MP Camera with Video Recording, 64mb of built memory with Tranflash Slot for additional memory, MP3/MP4 Multimedia functions, and more…

Performance: Phone calls perform well using Cingular’ service. But will depend on your coverage area. Video playback is excellent on this handset. Keep in mind that the screen is small so its most useful for short films, music videos and trailers. The stereo speaker was even louder than my Cowon A2 pmp. And MP3 playback was equally as good rivaling dedicated MP3 Players. The 1.3MP camera on back of unit is comparable to other cell phone cameras. And the phone also has unlimited video recording.

GSM: The phone will come unlocked which is a major plus and will work with most GSM carriers such as Cingular and T-Mobile.

Menu: The menu was pretty straight forward. D-pad for moving up and down and then clicking ok and back to go forward or back. Very easy to navigate which is plus.

Adding Music/Photos: The Lattefone Slim 11b has 64mb built in memory to get you started. Also has a Transflash/MicroSD slot for added space. Unlike other phones The Slim 11b truly makes it easy to uploads songs to the phone. Simply drag/drop your photos and mp3s into the correct folder.

Conclusion: While Latte Communications is not a household name just yet. They certainly make solid phones that perform well and have quite a few features. If you are looking for a nicely designed phone thats ultra thin then you will not find better than the Latte Slim 11b.

What’s in the box: Included in the box is the tuner itself, portable antenna, usb extension, software cd, and manual. Pretty much a basic package. No remote or carrying bag that some of the more expensive tuners had.

Design: About the size of a flash drive this TV tuner is quite portable to take around with your laptop.

Installation: First things first. Make sure you have an available USB2.0 port. USB 1.1 will not work. Also you will need a pretty well spec PC to run Over the Air HD content. So please make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements. Also of note is if you plug the device into a different USB socket you need to reinstall the driver.

I started up Windows XP Professional inserted the TV Tuner into a USB 2.0 port. XP initially recognize the tuner but ran into a problem. Checking Device Manager the WinTV HVR-950 had a yellow exclamation mark. Next I inserted the included cd. Double clicked “HCWclear.exe” and chose the last two options. Rebooted windows and reinstalled the initial driver. And that seemed to remedy the installation of the driver.

I installed the software WinTV 2000. Once installed I did a scan of analog and digital channels using the included antenna. Results 7 analog and 5 digital in the Grand Rapids Michigan area.

Performance: The Hauppauge WinTV HVR-950 had good reception but I would not say the best. AutumnWave Onair GT performed much better(Due to the built in Nvidia decoder) with digital channels ASTC over the air HD. And the PCTV HD Pro Stick that I reviewed perform slightly better than the WinTV in analog reception.

Conclusion: At $99 bucks this is one of the cheapest TV Tuners with ATSC over the air HD content. Overall a good buy for those who want to watch TV on their PC or notebook.

Intro: I remember purchasing a $50 usb tuner a couple years back and found that I was disappointed with the experience. Slow USB 1.1 connections and poor picture was to blame. Now the next generation of USB TV tuners is available that adds HDTV and are on faster USB 2.0 connections. The Autumnwave Onair GT is of the first mobile HDTV and DVR device to allow on-the-go consumers to receive and record high definition over-the-air’ and digital cable (QAM) television broadcasts on laptops, as well as analog over-the-air’ and cable broadcasts.

Installation: First thing to do is go to the net and download the latest drivers and software. This is recommended as updates and fixes are available. Follow by installing the drivers and software on to your laptop. Connect the USB to an available USB 2.0 port. And connect the antenna to the tuner. And you’re all set. Scan through the digital and analog channels and your ready to watch HDTV on your laptop. Included is a remote for easy flipping through channels.

Function: The TV tuner can produce crystal clear picture for digital channels. While analog was below average in my opinion. The minimum PC specs are lower than competing HDTV tuners due to the nVidia PureVideo Decoder. Like a PVR the Autumnwave Onair GT can view TV, Record programs, and also time shift.

Conclusion: The next generation of USB TV tuners has arrived and Autumnwave Onair GT is the best I have reviewed so far. If you want to watch HD content but don’t want to fork over the big bucks for an HDTV then the Autumnwave Onair GT might be right for you.

The Gladiator II case comes in four colors (Beige, Black, Carbon, and Camouflage), two sizes (Universal Size 1a Regular, and Universal Size 5A Large), and leather belt clip or stainless steel belt clip.

I chose the Gladiator II case in carbon in universal size 5A and leather clip. It’s nice that the case is customizable to the buyers liking.

The Gladiator II case is rugged and made of quality materials. It is not the case you’re looking for if your looking for something that is stylish. As I found it to be a tad on the bulky size. And the addition of the leather belt clip almost doubles it sizes. The metallic metal logo on the face has a belt buckle look to it. The case uses a magnetic enclosure for easy removal of the phone.

If you’re looking for durable case then the NazTech Gladiator II may be right for you. But in terms of style the Gladiator II case has none.

If your in the market for a PSP Case with maximum protection while still having the ability to play the PSP while inside the case then take a look at the Black Core Case for the Sony PSP.

Made of Black anodized aluminum the case looks rock solid on the outside with neoprene liner on the inside for protection from scratches. The case is formfitting so doesn’t add much bulk. In addition the inside of the case has two slots for memory cards.

The top flips over and is held in place with a magnet in the back of the unit for viewing movies.

Overall a solid alternative to the Logitech Playgear Pocket.

Design and Features: The Ultra Hydra player comes in your choice of four colors (Black, Orange, Yellow, and Pink with compacities of 1GB and 2GB. The design is quite nice and can be worn around your neck with included neck strap.

The Ultra Hydra player can be detected by most versions of Windows automatically. If need be there is a drive CD as well. Plug the USB cable into your computer, install the battery, and drag and drop your music. Can’t get easier than that. LCD display with backlight is easily viewable. Playback music in MP3, WMA, or Wav formats, or listen to the FM radio (which has excellent reception), or use the handy voice recorder. The main selling point is Splash Resistant. Outside of having the player completely submerged in water the player is very effective in withstanding rain, or a splash of water.

Comparison:
Ipod Shuffle (2) 1GB vs. Ultra Hydra 2GB
The most obvious comparison would be the Ipod Shuffle (2) which rules the DAP world. The Shuffle is small, sleek, and easy to use. While the Ultra Hydra is no slouch in the looks department. The Hydra is a tad larger than other DAPS in its same category. But features wise the Hydra rules. The Hydra has a long list of features such as easy replaceable battery (AAA Battery opposed to built in proprietary battery that cannot be replaced by the user), LCD display with backlight, WMA playback, USB 2.0 file transfer, built in fm tuner, and half the price of the Shuffle with double the capacity of memory.

If you want function over style then the Hydra wins by a mile.
